We wait all year for the yellow of spring to peek up and say hello.
If you have a friend who could use some cheering up, drop one of these Small Comforts at their doorstep. Dress it up with a bit of giftwrap and ribbon. Simple.
The artist Bonnie Burger is the owner is of this Okanagan weekend retreat and used high colour in large strokes as the preferred design direction of choice. One of her large and exhuberant paintings anchors one part of the room while a yellow Bertazzoni range holds the other. A wood convent table from the 1890's introduces warmth into this not-so-clinical white kitchen.
There is an interesting addition to this room. The photograph is an enlarged version of a Paris photo that the owner had of his parents from their younger days. How cool is that mixed in with these modern lines? Two generations crossing together in one room.
A warm and velvety vibe. So beautiful and welcoming.

I love that idea for a gift, really cheeful and simple.
ReplyDeleteI have a table from the late 1800's that is very similar to the one pictured,(mine is rougher looking though) I love how it brings warmth and character into a room.
That is just the coolest idea...and photo in #3.
Beautiful post honey and yes so agree about the spellcheck :)
xoxo
I'm not usually a yellow person but I have recently really been liking it. I think I'll add a little in the way of some new spring clothes!

ReplyDeleteBeautiful gift ideas! I can imagine how fun it would be to get a little present of pretty flowers!
ReplyDeleteThose double farmhouse sinks and gorgeous farmhouse table call my name! And that settee is so nice too! Sadly, the only one of these things in my home are the miniature daffodils. I found some in adorable green and white pots at Trader Joe's. Gorgeous finds Sande.

So in love with this color right now ... it brings such a pop of happiness ! Speaking of yellow, been riding my bike as often as the weather has allowed here in (non)sunny CA. It has helped me put my mind in the right place and off days am going to yoga. I wonder why your message didn't work ?
ReplyDeleteSuch a lovely post, Sandi! Yellow is one of my favorite colors -- it has the ability to bring instant happiness, doesn't it? Whether you're looking at it, or wearing it...right now, I have bright yellow tulips in my bedroom, and it just makes the space...
ReplyDeleteThanks for further inspiration, as always :)
Hope you're having a great day,
xo,
Sarah
