I'll try it............the new blogger template

When a little pop up message showed up last night from blogger "Try new template", I was game for sure. In the last month I have been playing on Polyvore, Tumblr, Twitter, Pinterest, Facebook, all in the quest to learn new things and understand what bit of social media I like. Polyvore was like playing with dolls when I was young and I certainly had the most expensive outfits ever seen ever on that site. Twitter and I are still feeling each other out, but I not sure I am that interesting. Tumblr kind of appealed to me in a multitude of ways even though I am convinced I am the oldest person by decades ever to re-blog. All this playing was a good exercise in convincing me I like traditional blogging the best as a means of communicating. Everywhere else I am too expensive or too old. But it did tell me I was looking to spiff things up a bit actually alot and after a two-hour meeting yesterday to introduce and design a new look, up came "Try new template" which is exactly what we were aiming for, only so much better and the timing was really weird. I was a bit over-eager when I saw this new Dynamic format and the 8 viewing options, I am such a sucker for visuals.......................but without the blog header, the blog list, the anything other than the post, all which will be added back in as soon as I figure this all out. I could revert back to the old format with one click but I thought I would see what you think. When you visit today, you will see a title in the top left corner that says Magazine, hit that and a scroll-down menu will list 7 other viewing options, this is where the fun begins (Classic is the traditional viewing method) in my opinion. I expect some problems, I expect a new learning curve, I expect not everyone will like it........but I also expect that you might find it very, very interesting and maybe a bit overdue. Tell me what you think.

  1. Sande, I like it! I've been tempted to push that button too, but I have a custom template and don't know how it will affect that. Looks like a cleaner view with larger images. Let me know how difficult it is to tweak and thanks for the preview!

  2. Hi Sande,
Thank you for trying it for us ! I saw the new widget 2 days ago and like you felt very tempted but didn't dare push the button....Mmmm I found it a bit disturbing at first because I couldn't find where to comment, but this is me...clumsy. I quite like it but to be sincere, i miss your banner. Can the banner display too ?
Re Twitter, my tumblr is linked on my twitter and besides that, i'm very bad at twitting!
Thanks for being audacious and try it ! :-)

  4. Hi Sandy, I'm in the process of redesigning my site and moving to Word Press. While this new look is lovely, I do miss your beautiful banner. Happy Wednesday. :-)

  5. Sande,

I am not a bit surprised that, you, my red lipstick, bold chartreuse-loving blog friend would jump into the Dyanamic view without looking back, without any reservations...I love that about you!
I saw this button last night, and decided that in the morning I would try it out in a safe place-my weddings blog. I personally love the way the Snapshot template looks in the Blogger previewer (it resembles Pinterest)but when finalizing it on the weddings blog, it just didn't look as I thought it would perhaps because the wedding blog only has 3 or 4 posts. I think Blogger is smart to offer new looks to bloggers out there. With so many new social mediums, we don't want to get too comfortable and too closed minded as things do always change, especially in technology.

Oh, and I'm with you...twitter and tumblr are not for me.

I hope you enjoy your new template. Whatever you do, I will always return to see and hear what you have to share.

  7. I hate the darn thing! It won't let me come to your blog from my new PAD 2. Now it wants me to update my Broswer to visit here from my laptop.

  8. I think it looks very nice but I will not use it for my own blog because there is no custom header or sidebar. My own sidebar is almost like another blog. Is it easy to switch back?

  9. Timeslide was interesting but I think I like the classic best.

I read Laudree is opening in New York soon. I thought of you when I read the article.

  10. It's very interesting. I'm impressed you were brave enough to click the button. It looks really modern, but as you said some features you like aren't there. Thanks for clicking that button and sharing!

  12. If you are interested in input on this new look, I have to admit I don't care for it. I think your other look is way more beautiful.

    my two cents worth....

  13. Sande, I am still trying to figure out how to keep adding to the pages you introduced. I like that idea, but do you have to keep going to the same post to add photos? I must be doing something wrong. I could not figure out Tumblr - as that might be the best way to go for those inspiring photos. As for your blog, I miss your header and took a while to find the place to comment. I think your other was much more beautiful - but that is only my opinion and from one who is trying to figure out how to make changes herself! :) xo~

  14. Let's just say they have a lot of kinks to work out. I switched to this format for another blog I produce, thought it would be great to feature the work of an artist.
I miss the opportunity to add gadgets on the side to feature items and visuals in the order I want.
It's somewhat tumblr style, which is limiting for text.

  18. Mosaic is really beautiful! Reminds me of Pinterest, and really shows off your gorgeous photos - a plus for Visual people like myself. It invokes that spontaneous "oh THAT's pretty" *click*...rather than sifting through words.

  19. Sande, I miss your header too! I think this new look will appeal to the younger set, but my preference (for me) is keeping my beautiful header which sort of introduces us to others, don't you think?
This is sleek, that's all. It's not beautiful, opulent, expensive, sage, witty or wise...all of which you are. Just saying, honey-bunny. xx's

  21. I would like...need....a change. BUT I am skeered! Got to find a day to just 'sit' at the computer and play. BUT if I have time to 'sit', I would rather be 'sitting' on my bike!

    xo
