The race begins............goodbye carbs

We are supposed to reach a temp of 75ish today so finally...........out comes the bike and the intense cycling schedule I have mapped out for this spring and summer. Going for another 20lbs. to top off what I lost last year. Wish me luck.

Out with the winter carbs..................gone, gone.

Those tempting bites of sweetness........gone too.

Only good things are are coming in the door and on our plates.

And this is why.

  2. Good luck! Giving up those food items we are fond of is very hard. The fabulous belt however, is a worthy of the difficulty.

  4. Great post and great blog! As someone who recently lost 14 pounds and still wanting to lose another 15 or so I can relate. I dont' totally do away with carbs but cut back dramatically and lots of exercise, not the fun part. But does it ever feel good to put on a belt and not have to close it at the biggest hole!

  5. Best of luck! The funny thing is, the best foods for us are usually better flavoured than the rest - I think a lot of our troubles stem from wanting to take the easy way with food. But I have learned good healthy food can be easy to prepare.
I am intrigued about your last shot - looks lovely!

  6. Good for you Sande! Love the photos you choose too. I so need to lose and just cannot motivate! I'm hoping that something will fall on my head to make me start "the program." Good luck with your 20. I know you'll do it!

  7. Just found your blog via Mr. Goodwill Hunting (saw your title on his sidebar) and am glad I saw this today. I just started the same "cut out the sugar, the senseless carbs" last week. It feels good. I am also a cyclist - have stopped considerable since I had a nasty fall - thank you for the inspiration to get back in the game. Your blog is beautiful - I look forward to reading more.

  9. So glad you included good bread and pretty flowers in your basket. Having the best flowers in your house can chase away the I-can't-eat-it blues!

  12. Sande,
You KNOW I am proud of you! :) But you definitely need to eat plenty of 'good' carbs otherwise you'll have no gas in your tank! Did you get a Garmin yet? Mine is the Edge 305 and once you see how many calories you burn on a ride you'll realize how much you need to refuel! My riding partner says, 'your ride is only as good as your last recovery'! Sure wish we could ride together!

  15. That is a fantastic belt! We have been trying to eat healthier here as well. I'm down 8 lbs. so it's working! Good luck to you. One of the things I do is whenever I'm feeling hungry I make a cup of tea. By the time I steep it and drink it the craving for food usually goes away!

  16. That fabulous red belt is certainly wonderful inspiration!! Good luck - the first day or two might be challenging but once you get on a roll, it's easy, especially in the spring!
